Hope Scholars After-School Program
Hope for Harvest Youth Center is committed to assisting and empowering K-12 youth in the Charlotte area.
Our team uses a combination of learning tools and activities to assist children in building academic skills outside of the traditional classroom setting. Activities include:
- eLearning: Students are registered in our computer lab for age and skill-appropriate digital learning games and activities through Age of Learning, Inc. These educational software packages offer immersive reward-based games that improve engagement, motivation, and self-confidence.
- In-Person Tutoring: Our team connects highly qualified volunteer tutors with local students so that Charlotte youth may receive free 50-minute homework help and tutoring sessions during each day of afterschool.
- Recreational Play: In order to thank our students for their hard work, we offer games and free time in our youth center including the game room, craft room and gymnasium.
The Hope for Harvest clothing closet offers a variety of supplies including hygiene products, household goods and gently used clothing and shoes. The closet is available to all community members Monday through Friday, by appointment only.
Thanks to our incredible donors, Hope for Harvest received over $2,000 in goods from our Amazon wish list in 2021! Our team of staff and volunteers processed, packaged, and delivered these gifts to supply families and individuals experiencing homelessness with top requested emergency items in order to provide community love and support during the holiday season. Stay tuned through our social media pages and email lists to stay up to date with this program. Check back in the fall to join us for Thanksgiving Giveback 2022!
