A true trailblazer, Catherine Brewton’s drive, tenacity, integrity, and kind heart have made her one of the most respected and influential executives in the music industry. Her career spans over two decades of working with the likes of Drake, DJ Khaled, Nas, Snoop, Nicki Minaj, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Kenny Chesney, and numerous others. She is a trusted advocate for music’s thriving creative community.

As BMI Vice President, Creative, Head of Hip Hop, R&B and Gospel, Brewton directs all of BMI’s Atlanta office outreach to songwriters and music publishers while working closely with staff members in New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, and London to bring top songwriters, producers, and artists to BMI.

Brewton produces and hosts many of BMI’s marquee annual events, including the BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards, the Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards, installments of BMI’s popular “How I Wrote That Song” panel series, and BMI’s annual “Know Them Now” Showcase. Brewton led BMI’s first ever DEI task force in 2019 that resulted in hiring Sandye Taylor, BMI’s first Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.

Accolades include a recent appointment to the advisory board of Carnegie Hall, 2022 Billboard Woman of the Year and a founding member of the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame and Georgia Entertainment Caucus co- chair. The Caucus was formed to create dialogue that bridges the gap between politicians, entertainment professionals and the community and shares the importance of activism. Brewton also serves on the Board of The Recording Academy – Black Music Coalition, and the board of NMAAM (National Museum of African American Music).

Hollywood Reporter named Brewton one of the “Grammy Top Ten Power Players,” she was an Ebony magazine “Power 100,” and was inducted into the Stellar Awards “Stellar Hall of Fame.” She also completed a two-week Women’s International Business Program at Harvard Business School.

Driven by her late mother’s philanthropic efforts and passion for helping underserved youth, Catherine Brewton officially founded Hope for Harvest in 2016. Hope for Harvest uses cultural influences and charitable resources to provide essential living items and services for Charlotte’s underserved youth, while providing an escape through music, dance, and life development programs.

Brewton recently released the “Hope for Harvest Coffee Table Book: A Visual Journey of Faith, Hope & Love.” In addition, Brewton is in the early stages of producing a documentary and publishing a book about her late mother titled, “Miracle on Brewton Drive: How Pastor Barbara Brewton Cameron Transformed the City.” She is also working on a residential and commercial redevelopment on Brewton Drive in Charlotte, North Carolina, where her plans are to revitalize the area where some 40 years ago, her late mother redeveloped the same community.
